The word Chantry originates from approximately the 13th century when monks were given money to say prayers or blessings to intervene with God on behalf of individuals.
Although it appears that this tradition started for intervention on behalf of the living, it also became common to pay monks to say prayers to intervene for the dead.
The part of the building where the monks 'intervened' with God became known as the 'Chantry' and although today, for some, it still has religious connotations, the word Chantry has grown to mean resolution, peace, harmony.
This name seemed apt for an Occupational Health Company whose interventions hopefully result in resolution, peace & harmony for all in the work environment.
